official bio
Lisa is a 4th-generation educator within a family of teachers. Twenty years ago, Lisa decided to follow in her family’s footsteps. She received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Colorado State University. She then pursued a master’s in art education from the University of Georgia with emphasis in language acquisition. She became certified in gifted education and English as a second language. Because of her family’s legacy and her own commitment to education, she has immense hope in it, and an intense desire to see teachers’ working conditions improved.
Lisa has presented both locally and internationally on gifted education, fine arts, language arts, language acquisition, and teacher wellness. One of her presentations, Shifting Gears: Lighten Your Assessment Load in Language Arts, presented in Edmonton, Calgary, and Lethbridge, received overwhelmingly positive feedback and gratitude from educators and was the impetus for writing Teaching Well: How healthy, empowered teachers lead to thriving, successful classrooms.
In addition to Teaching Well, her writing has been published in Canada and the US. Please Do Not was published in Free Fall Magazine and received the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association Amber Bowerman prize for emerging writer.
Lisa is the creator of Working Mom Wellness Community, and the host of the Working Mom Wellness Podcast—helping working moms move from anxious chaos to peaceful structure.
